Remote Pond Fly Fishing

posted Jun 14, 2011 1:37 PM by MooseKat Guide Service   [ updated Jun 14, 2011 1:40 PM ]

Led a charter to Jo Mary for a remote pond fly-fishing trip using the inflatable rafts.  Despite the poor conditions, which was a beautiful day full of sun and 70+ degree weather, we were able to boat 9 trout and missed a few more.  Not a bad day considering the conditions.  We didn't put the big one in the net, but we'll get some pictures with him next time.

Memorial Weekend Fishing Results

Pretty solid trip to the Jo Mary Area over the weekend.  The party boated 9 togue, 2 salmon, 33 brook trout, a pair of smallmouth bass and a pair of pickerel.  Despite the wind and thundershowers, the great fishing made the trip well worth the effort.

Grand Laker Modifications: COMPLETED

posted May 11, 2011 5:51 AM by MooseKat Guide Service

The Grand Laker has been modified and is ready for the water.  After last week's test run, I feel the boat is really where I want it now.  I painted the boat over the summer and recently replaced the original thwarts with some wider 1x6" ash, which I've added rod holders and storage space to for drinks/cameras/phones/fly boxes/etc.  I've also installed a rod rack and a stern seat.   The boat handles like a dream and the 6hp seems to push it along nicely.

Fishing Report: May 11, 2011

posted May 11, 2011 5:48 AM by MooseKat Guide Service

Fishing has been pretty slow to date.  Water levels still remain high throughout northern and western parts of the state.  The rain and fast ice melt has also caused water levels to remain unseasonably cool thus far, although I think within two weeks we'll be in prime time.  I fished beautiful Spencer Stream recently, as well as Wassookeag Lake and Sebasticook Lake and the fish have been hard to come by.  Bring on some sunshine and we'll be in business!

January 9: Ice & Fishing Report at Big Indian

posted Jan 14, 2011 6:19 AM by MooseKat Guide Service   [ updated Jan 14, 2011 6:21 AM ]

Fished 2.5 hours on Sunday, fast and furious action with not a lot of fish to show for it.  On the ice and setup at 8:00 and fished till 10:30.  Sunny and windy, 14 flags with 2 pickerel before running out of bait.  Big Indian Lake had 8" of ice between the islands, I'd assume most lakes will be buttoned up for the long haul within the next week or so.
